Hello to all of our readers/members,
As we approach the end of a very successful football season, for our boys and girls sections, let us delve a little into what your continued support means to the running and continued success and growth of Ballyoulster UTD FC.
As the old saying goes, "Rome was not built in a day", and this can also be said for the growth and development of a grassroots football club. The club has expanded at an exponential rate in the recent past and we hope to continue this growth long into the future. Sadly growth does not come cheap. And while there are grants available to clubs like ours, they do not come close to covering the day to day costs running of the club, let alone development.
As mentioned in one of our newsletters last year, the "Rocky Road" cost the club €80,000 to complete. A job that was badly needed, and benefits all patrons who to the club. It is only when we visit other clubs that we can see what an amazing facility we have at Ballyoulster. If you have attended any home games this season or have been to any meetings in the clubhouse, you may have noticed new doors, to the front and at the back of the clubhouse, along with new steps and rails also. To name but a few changes. Our website has also had a huge upgrade, and there is a host of really important information available to everyone now at the click of a button.
There is a list of upgrades required over the coming months, and like everything, these upgrades do not come cheap.
Grassroots football always encourages new players to improve their skills in football, whilst having fun. It helps to develop the local talent and confidence of players, regardless of where each player is from. It also helps to promote diversity and reduces the likelihood of discrimination, sexism and racism. Along with technical skills, grassroots football can teach players, young and old, about the importance of friendship, camaraderie, and teamwork. Even adults leading football at grassroots club level, get a chance to develop their coaching, fundraising and researching skills.
We would encourage you to sign up for our monthly draw if you can. It will cost you €10 per month, and you could win €500 cash (Every month)!
If all of us subscribed to the monthly draw, just think of the ongoing fundraising that we could achieve for 10 months of the year. This funding is absolutely vital for the club, for crucial day to day costs, like keeping the lights & heating on!
If you have already subscribed, thank you for your support! for those of you who have not yet subscribed, please do, and please share with family and friends too. Our next draw is Friday 31st May.
Thank you all for your support as always, and enjoy the last remaining games of the season.
